About David Rangel

David Rangel

David brings a long and successful history of training mainly Spanish-speaking pastors and Spanish ministries on the area of preaching, discipleship, leadership and ministry strategies through his own coaching group Momentum. In addition to coaching, he teaches Preaching and Discipleship Formation for the Spanish Course of Study School at Perkins School of Theology.

A native of Mexico, his experience in Spanish Ministry and transitional bilingual churches brings another voice to the need many congregations are facing today. David Rangel is eager to share his gifts as he becomes a part of the Difference Makers Group.

In his previous Senior Pastor appointment, David Rangel was able to guide the congregation to come back from decline to become one of the most vibrant and fasted growing bilingual churches in the North Texas Conference. In 2018, the congregation expanded and became the first Spanish-speaking multi-site church in Southeast Texas.

David is driven by his conviction that in ministry we go through seasons where we feel stuck or indecisive about how to move forward. His approach is to join pastors and churches in a journey where they find clarity in their vision; gain direction through strategies; discover their own rhythm; and maximize their momentum by bearing results.

Prior to completing his doctoral studies at Perkins School of Theology in 2020, David Rangel earned his Master of Divinity.  In 2018 he was certified as a Life Coach and in 2020 he completed his doctoral studies at Perkins School of Theology at SMU. He is currently on staff at a large predominantly Anglo congregation, Custer Road UMC in Plano, Texas. He has been married to his wife Liliana since 2011, and together have one daughter, Emma Olivia. He loves watching soccer, going on vacation to the Mexican Caribbean, and spending time with his family.
