Edlen Cowley is well known and highly respected across the country for his popular Cross-Racial/Cross-Cultural Ministry Training Camp, which he has held annually for the past 4 years. The event feature Edlen’s perspective and the perspective of pastors who serve in CR/CC appointments in North Texas and around the country. This year’s event is scheduled for April 30th & May 1st.
He has served in cross-racial/cross-cultural ministry since 2003. Over that time, he has grown in his ability to share his perspective on what it takes to have success in these types of appointments. He has mentored and coached multiple pastors who have served in CR/CC appointments.
Rev. Edlen Cowley has served as an ordained clergyperson in the North Texas Conference (NTC) of the United Methodist Church since the year 2000. He has served in many diverse ministry settings; he was an Assistant/Associate Pastor at St. Luke “Community” UMC in East Dallas with Rev. Dr. Zan Wesley Homes Jr. (1994-2002), and an Associate/Campus Pastor St Andrew UMC, Plano (2006-2014). He has started two new churches in the NTC; a multi-ethnic church, The East Grand/Owenwood Foundry Church in East Dallas (2003-2006), and a predominantly Anglo suburban church, St. Andrew Frisco/Connection UMC in Frisco (2010-2014).
Since 2014, Edlen has served as Senior Pastor of Fellowship UMC in Trophy Club a predominantly Anglo congregation. During Edlen’s tenure, Fellowship has seen membership, worship attendance, and budget growth (the church has also had two successful capital campaigns). It has also intensified its efforts to connect and grow its ministry to children, youth, and young families.
Edlen would be a great resource to leverage for pastors going into a new CR/CC appointment for the very first time. We are so excited about Edlen networking with the Difference Makers Group. Contact him through our website, or directly at [email protected]|214-957-0075
